Our dreams give us a key to one-third of our lives, perhaps unrevealed. At the edge of the mind is a hidden creator of high drama and each of us has the potential to access information this dream-maker seems to possess.

Dreams show us how to find a meaning in our lives, how to fulfill our own destiny, how to realize the greater potential of life within us.

American Indians believe that the Great Spirit gives dreams to guide and inspire the soul. Edgar Cayce, the great American psychic, once declared that "Visions and dreams are given for the benefit of the individual, would they but interpret them correctly". He further stated that dreams work to solve the problems of the dreamer's conscious, waking life, and they work to quicken in the dreamer new potentials which are his to claim.

The most important single thing dreams do for us is that of helping us to solve our problems. We are constantly beset with problems of one kind or another and always looking either for answers or for better ways to perform. Some of the dream messages that we receive is from our subconscious level, information about the physical body and its needs. Others come from conscious levels, about miscellaneous facts, figures and bits of information to deal with our present day problems. But most of our lessons come from the superconscious level, our God-self or High-self. These come as spiritual lessons and insights to help with problem solving on all levels to give us greater understanding of our goals, our mental and spiritual growth processes, and even reminders for our soul purpose for this lifetime provided that we pay attention to our dreams. Without this, we can wander off our course and be plaqued with wondering "What is life all about" and/or "What am I here for?"

When we go to sleep, where do we go? According to ancient wisdom teachings, we may experience astral travel - not only go to other countries, but to other planes and planets as well - "astral" means star. Astral travel truly means travel among the stars! Also, in ancient times, dreams were highly esteemed. Beautiful temples were built and maintained as havens to entice and encourage dreams. People would travel many miles for the great privilege of entering the Temple of Dreams, for it was well-known that dreams were a source of deep truth which could be used for healing, solving problems, or attaining guidance in matters of health, wealth, happiness, and understanding.

There are many realms of dreams, however there are three main types of dreams: physical, subconscious and superconscious. The physical dream which are caused by physical noises such as police sirens, honking horns, etc.; dreams from the subconscious which are mostly in symbolic or picture language which needs to be interpreted; and dreams from the superconscious which is classified as visions, spiritual experiences. Science has proven that we all dream, not once, but several times every night. The truth is that most of us simply do not remember.

In essence, dreams show us the pattern of our lives but focuses mainly around the problems and events of the previous day in the light of the goals we have set for ourselves. Therefore, the process of writing out our goals becomes an important measuring device to judge our progress. Dreams are a continuous self-search of one's goals, motives, actions, and overall lifestyle which greatly aids in accurately assessing one's progress in life and in understanding the way and how of the problems that one is faced with in life. It facilitates the learning of one's lessons or overcoming of difficulties and obstacles far quicker than before. It also prepares the way for guidance from one's High-self to come through dreams with greater clarity; paving the way to a much desired achievement. Understanding this point can be extremely enlightening in the interpretation of our dreams.
