The purpose of lighting candles is to incite something new into your life, or to rid yourself of something that may be causing you distress or concern. Lighting candles for special intent and purpose, such as finding love/keeping love, improving finances, health, finding a job - including other areas of your life - will surely bring happiness and harmony to you. Candle Magic will enable you to improve the quality of your life - whereby anxiety, confusion, and distress will become a part of the past.

To effectively perform candle magic, you will need to follow a few simple steps prior to lighting your candles. First select a color for your special intent and purpose (see color chart below). Please note that any size candle will work, however, in order to obtain enough energy to manifest your desire, it is suggested that you select two 12 inch tapered candles.

Once you have made your color selection, the candle should be oiled or 'dressed' before burning. The purpose of dressing the candle is to establish a psychic link between it. By physically touching the candle during the dressing procedure, you are charging it with your own personal vibrations/energy, as well as concentrating on the desire of your special intent and purpose into the wax. The candle is now becoming a part of your mental power and life force.

Note that timing is important. Lighting a colored candle at the wrong time may not bring about your desires and intentions. Time your candle burning to correspond to the cycles of the moon. To bring something into your life, perform your candle burning when the moon is waxing (or growing). To rid yourself of something, light your candles when the moon is waning. You may also light candles in accordance with certain days of the week. (Please see the color chart below for more detail.) It's nice to say a little prayer before lighting your candle, and concentrate on the desired effect you want. To increase the candle's effectiveness, write your desire on paper, and place it underneath the candle holder.

You should always allow the candle to give you all that it is capable of giving, thus, the longer your candle stays lit, the more assurance you will have that your wish or desire will come to pass. Blowing out the flame on a candle is not suggested for it has always been regarded as the ending of the intent, therefore, allow your colored candle to burn itself out, if not, then a candle snuff is recommended for extinguishing the candle's flame.

Do not be concerned as to where to set your candles for any place is acceptable so long as it will not be disturbed. It is suggested that you view your lit candles periodically to send forth your energy by visualizing your desired intent.

It is also suggested that you select the appropriate gemstone/crystal to place near your candles in order to enhance your objective. This ensures that you will manifest your wishes and desires.

Examples:

~ To secure a loving relationship ~
Light two pink candles.
The day of the week to light them is on Friday.
(Appropriate Gemstone/Crystal: Rose Colored Quartz)

~ Seeking to improve finances ~
Light two green candles.
The suggested day of the week to light them is on Wednesday.
(Appropriate Gemstone/Crystal: Aventurine)

~ Seeking tranquility ~
Light two blue candles.
The suggested day of the week to light them is on Monday.
