The Rainbow bridges the earth and heaven. It is seen as a message of hope from the gods. In the Bible, God sent a rainbow as a sign of his covenant after the Flood. Rainbows that contain the full spectrum of colors are viewed as lucky.
"Iris" is the Greek goddess of the Rainbow who transported women's souls to the underworld.

The Hummingbird is seen as a symbol of joy, giving pleasure through its loveliness. In Native American myth it is a truthful bird that represents beauty, harmony and enjoyment. The Aztec war god, Huitzilopochtli, and Quetzalcoatl, the Mayan god, both wore its feathers, which were widely thought to have magical properties.

The Parrot symbolizes spring and fertility, as well as imitation and mockery due to its gift of mimicry. It is held sacred by the Hopi peoples of North America. In Hinduism, the bird is associated with Kama, god of love, and also with prophecy and rainmaking.

The word "Jay" comes from the Latin word "gaia" or "gaea" which has associations to Mother Earth. In Greek mythology, the union of Mother Earth (gaea) and Father Heaven (Uranus) resulted in the first creatures who had the appearance of life. This reflects much about the intrinsic power associated with the Jay. It has the ability to link the heavens and earth, to access each for greater power.
Mynah ~ Bubbling with Joy ~
"Mynah" is not a biological classification within the Starling family, but rather a geographical one. "Mynah" ("maina") is the Hindi word for Starling, and this name has tended to be applied to Starling species native to southern and southeastern Asia and the southwest Pacific. The word "Mynah" derives from the Sanskrit "madana", meaning joyful or delightful, which comes from the word "mad", to rejoice, which in turn derives from a root meaning "bubbles".

In Europe, the lime, or Linden Tree, represents joy, and femininity. In Germany and Scandinavia, it was believed to repel lightening and to cure disease if touched by someone who was sick.
Laurel ~ Immortality, Victory ~
Sacred to Apollo and a symbol of immortality and victory, the Laurel was said by Greeks and Romans to be physically and spiritually cleansing, and to repel lightening. The Laurel became the tree of Apollo in memory of the fate of Daphne, daughter of the river god Peneus. Daphne was fleeing from Apollo, but was about to be overtaken when her father changed her into a Laurel tree. Apollo declared, "Because thou can'st not be my mistress, I espouse thee for my tree; Be thou the prize of honour and renown; the deathless poet and the poem crown; thou shalt the Roman festivals adorn, and, after poets, be by victors worn". Worn as a wreath, it symbolized the poet and excellence in the science and arts.
In Christianity it came to symbolize the triumph of Humanity as represented by the Son Man. Bay is also a name used for Laurel. As the bay tree, the true Laurel of the Ancients, is scarce in England. substitutions such the common cherry Laurel, the Portugal Laurel, the Aucuba and others are often used.
Chestnut ~ Love, Conscious Mind ~
Wise Chestnut, the Tree of Quiet Mind. The Chestnut is an herb of Jupiter and of the Fire element. Its primary use in magic is for love spells. In Europe, Chestnuts were sometimes left as an offering to ancestors on Samhain or Halloween. A traditional holiday roasting nut which represents the hope of spring.
Mulberry ~ Wisdom, Protection, Strength, Fertility, Psychic Awareness ~
This tree's berries ripen in three stages. White represents youth, red the vigorous middle years, and black the ripeness of wisdom, age and death. This tree symbolizes the sun and is a tree of life in China. In Greek myth it is a tree of misfortune. It is said that Mulberries are eaten before acts of divination for better glimpses of the future.

The Hazel tree has always been regarded as magical for its presence inspires our intuitional senses. The Hazel's branches are best known for their use as divining rods, with some suspicions that the rod of Moses may have actually been made from Hazel.
